Let’s talk about the 1500W Carbon Infrared Tube
When you need a massive amount of heat—and you need it right now—that’s where these 1500W carbon tubes come in. We built them for those high-pressure spots where waiting for a machine to warm up just isn’t an option. The 1500W sweet spot is great because it gives you a serious punch of energy without blowing your electrical budget or overloading your controllers.
The heat is different here
Here is the thing about carbon filaments: they don’t just heat the surface. They put out a medium-wave radiation that sinks deeper into your materials than those short-wave lamps do. It’s much faster than those old-school resistive coils, too. Since carbon has lower electrical resistance than nichrome, we can cram more power into a shorter tube. You get a concentrated, intense heat footprint without needing a massive piece of equipment.
What’s under the hood?
We wrap the filament in high-purity quartz. Why? Because carbon expands like crazy when it gets hot, and quartz is one of the few things that can handle that stress without just snapping. The ends are sealed tight to keep oxygen out. If air leaks in, the filament burns out almost instantly. We usually pair these with R7s or spring-loaded connectors.**Make sure they’re tight.**If you have a loose connection, you’ll start seeing arcing at the terminals, and nobody wants that.
Using them in the real world
These are basically “plug and play” for PET blowing machines, drying ovens, or plastic welding lines. They hit those glass transition temperatures in a matter of seconds. It’s fast. Really fast. But a word of caution: watch your spacing. These tubes put out an intense amount of localized heat. If your reflectors are dusty or slightly crooked, you’ll get hot spots that can warp your work. Also, make sure your PID controllers are tuned for a quick response. If they’re too slow, you’ll overshoot your temp and end up with a mess.
